Telugu Desam party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced strong candidates for the Telangana by-elections in Piduguralla during “Mee Kosam” programme. TDP strategically postponed prestigious “Mahanadu” event due to these elections. If Mahanadu were held, TDP will need to announce its opinion on key Telangana issue and party cadre needs to spend more time on Mahanadu which will hamper election preparations. TDP leaders in Telangana will be disappointed as they are hoping for pro-Telangana announcement from Chandrababu Naidu in Mahanadu.
Telugu Desam party candidates for Telangana by elections:
Loksabha candidates:
1. Karimnagar: L. Ramana – In Karimnagar, all major parties fielded same candidates who contested during last by elections. If KCR wins with lesser majority (which will happen) than last by election, it is a severe blow to Telangana movement. Anti-Telangana groups will highlight this and especially it will come as a handy tool for YSR.
2. Warangal: Yerrabelli Dayakar Rao. Though he is reluctant to contest, Party succeeded in fielding this giant in TRS stronghold.
3. Hanamkonda: B. Venkateswarlu.
4. Adilabad: L.Venugopalachari. TDP has high hopes on this Loksabha segment.
Assembly candidates:
1. Secunderabad: Talasani Srinivasa Yadav. TDP is ahead in this constituency.
2. Vikarabad: Sanjeeva Rao. TDP will wrest this seat from TRS due to anti-incumbency and strong candidate.
3. Jadcherla: Chandrasekhar. Congress and TDP are ahead in this constituency.
4. Siddipet: Ravindra Reddy. Harish Rao of TRS will win this seat by more than 50,000 votes according to analysts.
5. Dommat: Muthyam Reddy.
6. Myadaram: Mallesam.
7. Ramayampet: M. Hanmanatha Rao. TDP has high hopes in this segment. Severe anti-incumbency against Padma Devender Reddy of TRS.
8. Station Ghanpur: Kadiyam Srihari.
9. Kamalapur: M. Damodar Reddy.
10. Huzurabad: Peddireddy.
11. Therlam: T. Laxminaidu. Election is a formality here.
12. Yellareddy: J. Surender.
13. Dichpalli: M. Venkateswara Rao.
14. Khanapur: Ramesh Rathod.
15. Alair: M. Narsimhulu. Chandrababu Naidu failed to control infighting in this seat which is a TDP bastion.
16. Khairathabad: TDP is not contesting here.
17. Musheerabad: TDP allocated this seat to CPM. BJP is ahead in this seat due to sympathy towards BJP candidate.
18. Cheriyal: TDP allocated to CPM as part of alliance.
Latest TDP news:
1. Dayakara Rao started his campaign in Warangal.
2. Nannapaneni Rajakumari fainted due to sun stroke during “Mee Kosam” programme in Piduguralla.
TRS is ahead in most constituencies but TDP is building momentum in most segments due to strong candidates and traditional strongholds.

Lokesh-Brahmani engagement video-1
This is the most awaited video for the fans of Nandamuri family. This is the engagement video of Nandamuri Balakrishna daughter, Brahmani and Telugu Desam party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s son, Lokesh which was held at Balakrishna’s residence at a glittering ceremony in Hyderabad.
The engagement function was done according to the rituals and was attended by famous personalities from Telugu Cinema industry. This marriage further strengthened the association of Chandrababu Naidu with Nandamuri family.
I can’t understand why Balakrishna is not taking active participation like Harikrishna in the TDP politics.
Watch the engagement video of Brahmani and Lokesh:
Please share your opinion on this marriage.

Video: Chandrababu Naidu speech in Ongole
Telugu Desam party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu toured Prakasam district in “Yeruvaka” programme. He received stunning response from people in Martur, Addanki, Darsi, Ongole, S.N.Padu and Kondapi constituencies. People waited till midnight to see his leader in Darsi and Chimakurthi. He didn’t even sleep as tour is running 8 hours behind the schedule. After 1982 NTR tour, neither NTR nor Chandrababu Naidu visited these remote villages in the last 25 years. There is a clear wave for TDP among the people if we go by the people response in traditionally strong Congress bastion-Prakasam district. Farmers and youth actively participated in the programme. TDP president should participate more in these people oriented programmes to gain people confidence.

Telugu Desam: How to regain power in 2009?
The senior most T.D.P leaders are of the opinion that the party should be brought to its original glorious position by correcting the defects.
How to regain glory for Telugu Desam Party?
1. Yerran Naidu (M.P): Party should give preference to the youth as N.T.R did in 1982 time.2. Devender Goud (M.L.A & EX. Minister): First of all our party should be closely move with the people. The economic gap between the rich and the poor should be bridged as much as possible. Now the political field is spoiled. The money is playing main roll in elections. This attitude must go.

Highlights of Harikrishna interview in Eenadu
Harikrishna is the favorite son of Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao, the most famous artist of Telugu cinema field and founder president of Telugu Desam Party. NTR used to call him affectionately as ‘Hari.’’ Harikrishna was recently inducted into Telugu Desam Party Politbureau and felicitated with a doctorate by an American University.
Hari is very kind-hearted person and is very much interested in looking after animals like cows, and also in mythological stories. As Hari is not afraid of anybody since childhood, NTR used to take special care about him and kept Hari at his grand-father (father of NTR), in Nimmakuru village, (native place of NTR).
In the beginning NTR was in Madras (Chennai), while acting in films and later on moved to Hyderabad, the State capital of Andhra Pradesh state and settled there.
NTR constructed Ramakrishna cinema studio at Hyderabad and made Hari in -charge for that studio.
NTR also purchased 250 acres of agricultural lands in Shamshabad (near Hyderabad). Hari and his grand-father are looking after these lands. While returning from Shamshabad, after seeing the lands, father of NTR, met with an accident and lost his life. There after NTR sold these lands, thinking that his father died due to these lands only (some sort of sentiment).
Hari could not able to adjust to city life and of the opinion that most of the people in towns/cities are not as honesty as the people living in the villages. He expressed his desire to go back to his native village, but NTR persuaded and convinced Hari to stay at Hyderabad, to look after the studio and their cinema production, etc.
Hari was the driver to that famous vehicle, ‘’Chianti Ratham’’( enlightened vehicle), in which NTR carried out his election campaign for 9 months in the year 1982-83, and defeated the ruling Congress government. Telugu Desam Party, founded by NTR came into power in Andhra Pradesh, in the year 1983. During the election campaign, Hari was the care-taker of NTR, and looked after NTR very well.
Hari says that farmers are the back-bones to the states as well to the country, but no political party evincing sufficient interest in welfare of the farmers. He is of the strong opinion that progress of the nation depends on the well-being of the farmers only.
Hari further says that he cannot tell lies, always keeps his promises given to others that are why he is facing much difficulty in containing politics in the present prevailing conditions. Every body (including my children) should strive hard to come up in life and never depend upon others for a lift.
Person, like my beloved father, is rarely born in this world. His personality was extraordinary (God given gift as somebody said).
NTR’S action in pictures, discipline in life, and perseverance in performing any work is all the extraordinary qualities rarely noticed in a single human being.
Hari and his father were behaved more like bosom friends rather than father and son.
‘’I wish to dedicate my further life to serve the people’’ (about entering into politics), NTR said these words first of all to Harikrishna.
Politics are prevailing in every field including cinema industry. Most of the cinemas are now without any meaningful stories and devoid of any social obligations and sentiments, as compared to old pictures.
Now I cannot simply act in cinemas, just for the sake of money. We should not deceive not only ourselves but also the public, by producing pictures without any moral values.
Finally I sincerely wish that the Telugu Desam Party should once again regain its old glory and fame, as in the days of NTR and dedicate itself to serve the poor and bring equality and social justice to all the ordinary human beings.
Then only the aim of the father to serve the poor will be fulfilled. The name and fame of the ‘’Telugu people’’ should be spread all over the world.

Most popular persons among TDP activists
I have conducted a small survey to find out the popular leaders in the Telugu Desam Party during Mahanadu. Party activists still have resounding faith in the Nandamuri family. Paritala Ravi is still revered as “Hero” by TDP activists cutting across all regions. Surprise finding of the survey is GMC Balayogi and Y. Madhava Reddy are more popular than some of the current Politbureau members. Paritala Sunitha, Roja, Mullapudi Renuka and Nannapaneni Rajakumari are popular women leaders.
2. N. Chandrababu Naidu
3. Paritala Ravi – He is more popular than Chandrababu Naidu in the youth.
4. N. Balakrishna
5. N. Harikrishna
6. Ramoji Rao
7. Nagam Janardhana Reddy - He is the rising star in the Party.
8. T. Devender Goud - He is liked by Telangana activists but disliked by Andhra and Rayalaseema activists.

N.T. Rama Rao – brief life history
N.T. Ramarao, founder of Telugu Desam party, created a lasting impression over Telugu people especially poor. People affectionately called him –N.T.R. Nandamuri Taraka ramarao was born on 28th-may-1923, in ‘’Nimmakuru’’ village in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. At the time of his birth, the population of that village was 500 only.
Peda Ramaswamy, the grandfather of NTR, Was a land lord and had 80 acres of land. The Land was divided among his four sons and the family was reduced to a middle class family. Ramaswamy’s eldest son’s name was Ramaiah. The second son’s name was Lakshmaiah Chowdary, who was the father of NTR. His mother’s name was Venkataravamma. As Ramaiah had no children, he adopted NTR as his son. NTR’s younger brother’s name is Trivikrama Rao
2. Education:
NTR studied up to 5th class in his native place and his teacher’s name was Valluru Subba Rao. NTR acted in dramas since his childhood. NTR left his native place to Vijayawada, for high-school studies and joined in Gandhi municipal high school of 1 town.
After passing the school –final examination, he joined in S.R.R and C.V.R. College to study intermediate course. At that time his family’s condition was not good and they sold out 10 acres of land to clear the debts. So NTR’s parents came to Vijayawada to look after him and his studies.
His father Laxmaiah set up the dairy farm for selling the milk. NTR also used to supply the milk to hotels, by riding on his Hercules bicycle. At the time of studying the intermediate course, two things happened in the life of NTR.
1. He began to take active part to act in the dramas (since his 20th year). He acted in a drama portraying a female role viz;’’ Nagamma’’.
2. He married “Basavatarakam’’ a nearest relative to him in 1942.
Whatever the cause may be NTR failed in the intermediate examination two times. He never got disappointed in spite of the relatives’ remarks against him and his education. The great thing about NTR was, he never accepted the defeat since his childhood. Leadership qualities were more in him. He is a born leader.
With the consent of his father, he had been to Bombay (Mumbai), to get training in sound recording system. He discarded the training as the conditions were not favorable. While he was in Bombay, he set up a meals hotel viz; ‘’Andhra Mess’’, there also he used to tell the customers about the greatness of the Telugu people. He returned to Vijayawada, at the call of his father. He did also tobacco business. At this time his foster father Ramaiah died due to ill health. Anyhow with the stint of hard work, he passed the intermediate examination.
Now he joined in BA course in AC College Guntur. At this time he got cinema offers but he refused to act in films. He passed BA in 1947 (in the same year India got independence). At this a son was born and his name was Ramakrishna.
In May 1947, NTR had been to Madras (Chennai) to act in cinemas but returned without acting. In the mean time he got a job in the military but his father did not permit him to join in that field.
3. Job opportunities: NTR appeared for the service commission exam. Out of thousands of candidates who appeared for the exam, only 12 members passed. NTR was one among them. He joined the post of sub- registrar in Guntur. The salary was Rs 190/ month.
Again he received offers from Madras to act in films. NTR was not in a firm position to take any decision. His younger brother ,Trivikrama Rao and another person viz; Chalapathi Rao (joint-registrar) encouraged NTR to go to Madras to act in films, as there is no sufficient income in government job to make both the ends meet. Moreover the circumstances in this job are not conducive to his mentality. He got bad experiences while discharging the duties, like bribes etc.
So NTR left for Madras to act in the films. NTR never worked against his consciousness. NTR continued in the job for 11 days only.
4. Cinema life:
In Madras, NTR met L.V. Prasad (actor and producer), who advised him to meet B.A. Subbarao who astonished after seeing NTR’S Personality. He was 5 feet 10 inches in height and 75 -80 kg in weight.
Immediately Subbarao obtained an agreement from NTR to act in his film and paid 1000 rupees as remuneration (at that time it was a big amount). One time meals cost ½ rupee only.
Then he returned to Guntur and resigned the job. He left for Madras alone, for good, to act in films.
He stayed in a lodge namely ‘’Poornam’s lucky lodge’’ along with three friends, whatever the cause may be, luckily all of them settled in cinema field.
NTR’s first movie: Mana Desam (our country).
His role: Sub-inspector.
Later he became legend in movies and politics. He founded Telugu Desam party which came to power just within 9 months.
Everyone knew the movie and political history of Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao. We may never a person like N.T. Rama Rao in our life time. We are lucky in that aspect. Telugu Desam leaders and cadre should work hard to keep the spirit and values of our “Anna”.

Marriage of the decade in August
Telugu Desam Party president Chandrababu Naidu’s son, Lokesh, will marry Tollywood top hero Balakrishna’s daughter, Brahmani, in the last week of August. “The marriage of the decade” will have far reaching implications on the politics of Andhra Pradesh.
Though Chandrababu Naidu is against marriages within close relatives, he agreed to this alliance because of bride’s great qualities like intelligence, middle class behaviour and good upbringing. Chandrababu Naidu married Balakrishna’s sister Bhuvaneswari. So this alliance will further strengthen the relations between both families.
Lokesh is studying MBA at Stanford while Brahmani has just written her 3rd year engineering exams.
It dispelled all the rumours about Balakrishna’s political plans like joining Congress or announcing a new party.
Please share your views on this alliance.

Telugu Desam Party district presidents
Polls to elect the district bodies once again highlighted the growing indiscipline in Telugu Desam party. No one wanted to lead the party during the crisis period of 2004-06 except leaders like Jyothula Nehru and Brahmanaiah. Now with an on 2009 Assembly elections, everyone is trying for this coveted post. Party Leadership once again failed to appoint youth and women leaders as district presidents.
Only 4 are new presidents and all others are incumbents.
Presidents of the TDP district committees:
1. Prakasam – Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy.
2. Vizayanagaram – Y. Ramanamurthy.
3. Visakhapatnam – B. Satyanarayana Murthy.
4. Vizag Urban – Zaheer Ahmed.
5. Srikakulam – G. Sivaji (New president).
6. Nizamabad – P. Srinivasa Reddy.
7. Rangareddy – Mahendra Reddy.
8. Medak – M. Hanmantha Rao (New president).
9. Mahaboobnagar – P. Ramulu.
10. Krishna – A. Brahmanaiah.
11. Vijayawada Urban – G. Rammohanarao.
12. East Godavari – Jyothula Nehru.
13. Karimnagar – L. Ramana. ( Babu should concentrate on this district).
14. Adilabad – G. Hanumantharao.
15. Nalgonda – S. Goud (New President).
16. West Godavari – K. Subbarayudu.
17. Anantpur – Hanumantharaya Chowdary.
18. Chittoor – N. Amaranath Reddy.
19. Guntur – P. Pullarao.
20. Nellore – S. Chandramohan Reddy.
21. Kadapa – Raghuramireddy (New President).
22. Kurnool – B. Rajasekhar Reddy.
23. Khammam – T. Nageswararao.
24. Warangal – R. Prakashreddy.
25. Hyderabad – Election will be held after Mahanadu.
Chandrababu Naidu should immediately control the growing indiscipline in the Telugu Desam party which was the major differentiating factor from Congress during N.T.Ramarao days. Chandrababu Naidu is still unable to give new direction to the Telugudesam party with clear views on policies like Telangana, Youth and Women in party and Pothireddypadu.
Share your views on new presidents.

Chandrababu Naidu views on N.T. Rama Rao
N.T. Rama Rao is still an Icon in the Andhra Pradesh. In the CNN-IBN Poll, he was selected as greatest Telugu person by Andhra People. NTR is still revered as God by his followers. N.T. Rama Rao changed the political situation in Andhra Pradesh by forming Telugu Desam Party.
1. N.T.R was a much disciplined person. He used to wake up at 3 a.m., and did yoga for one hour. I used to visit him at 4.30 a.m., early in the morning, to discuss about the party affairs and also the matters regarding administration. On any day, if I failed to visit him, he used to phone me at that time and asked me to come over there at once for discussion.Posted by Dr. Krishna at 8:26 AM 0 comments

Top 10 performers of Telugu Desam party
I have selected these top 10 hard working leaders based on their performance for the past 3 years. These rankings do not represent the designation in the party or their seniority.
1. Nagam Janardhana Reddy: 9/10.
Undoubtedly, he is the most popular leader among the cadre. He was the face of the Party for the first 2 years. He is the hope for cadre. His speeches in the Assembly and outside inspired the cadre especially during the turbulent period of 2004-06. He got maximum applause even during TANA meetings in Chicago.
2. Anantpur Party workers: 9/10.
They showed their resilience even after the death of Paritala Ravi. 63 party workers laid their lives for Party. Anantpur district always play a crucial role in the critical situations for party
3. T. Devender Goud: 8/10.

Most disciplined and hard working leader in the Party. He almost single handily protected the TDP cadre in Telangana region with Pathayatras and dare devil attitude. His planning was the major reason for the success of Telugu Desam in Telangana especially in Rangareddy district in the local body elections. His outspoken nature sometimes landed him in trouble.
4. Jyothula Nehru (East Godavari): 8/10.
Telugu Desam Party won Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation under his leadership. He worked hard to resurrect the party in the politically crucial district. Telugu Desam Party will win more than 15 seats in East Godavari in 2009 Assembly Elections.
5. Nara Chandra Babu Naidu: 7/10
He was subdued in the first two years after the defeat of Telugu Desam Party in 2004 Assembly elections. He is gradually coming back to his best. He proved his leadership qualities once again in the Babli issue. He stunned the both the Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samithi by his jet speed moves on the problems of Telangana region.
6. Venugopala Chary: 6/10.
Fasting for Basara IIT and the success of party in local body elections.
7. Nannapaneni Rajakumari: 6/10.
She is the voice of Telugu Desam. She inspired cadre with her daring speeches during elections.
8. Telangana Leaders and Cadre: 6/10.
Party senior leaders like K. SriHari, Y. Dayakar Rao and M. Venkateswara Rao along with party cadre worked hard to save the party from TRS and Congress especially during 2004-05. Party will get more seats in Telangana region than traditional stronghold Coastal Andhra.
9. Sidda Raghava Rao: 6/10.
This MLC helped party with his money and rose quickly to become the vice-president.
10. M.V. Mysoora Reddy: 5/10.
He silenced his critics with his sincerity and hard working nature. He is the research specialist and back ground boy for the TDP legislative Party.
Special Mention:
Vijaya Ramarao, Chennamaneni Vidyasagara Rao, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Mullapudi Renuka.
Party should include more young leaders in the organisation in place of aged senior leaders. They may not take the Party into 21st century.

Telugu Desam party: 25 years of journey
Milestones in Telugu Desam Party history:
1. Before 1982 –politics in Andhra means – The congress party and its inner politics which was ruling the state since 1953. Even though there was communist party but with little significance and not as an alternative to the congress party. But since 1983, Telugu Desam Party changed the scenario and equations in Andhra Pradesh.
2. There was not much recognition to A.P at national level. People in other states call the Telugu people as Madrasis (even though A.P was separated from Tamilnadu 30 years back).
3. T.D.P restored the self respect of the Telugu speaking pupil. Now Telugu language was used extensively in the administration of the A.P government and the central government at Delhi could not change the chief ministers often as did previously in the congress government.
4. N.T.Ramarao in his special van (enlightened chariot) travelled through each and every village and town of A.P state and covered 35,000 kilometers in the entire state. NTR used to take bath on the road side and visited the nook and corner of entire state. He reacted to their grievances sympathetically and won their hearts forever.
5. Social revolution: He changed the political fortunes of backward class people in Andhra Pradesh. The thought of constructing pucca permanent buildings to the poor for the first time was the brain child of T.D.P only .The programme of giving rice for Rs.2/- per kilogram made N.T.Ramarao Rao the living God.
6. Abolition of Karanamns and creation of Mandal administration, 30% reservation for women are other daring acts of Telugu Desam government.
7. Even though T.D.P is a regional party. It played a key role in the central level and also acted as a main opposition in the Parliament during 1984-89.
8. Telugu Desam got a good name as a party of having honest polices and also kept the promises given by it to the people.
9. T.D.P believes that hard work only gives good results. The administration went to the villages and conducted village level meetings and also Janmabhoomi propramme by which it brought the administration to the door step of people.
10. It is the most disciplined party among Indian political parties.
Telugu Desam party stood united in the turbulent periods of 1984 August crisis, 1989 defeat and 2004 crash. There is an urgent need to reenergize the party by including more youth in the party administration. Chandrababu Naidu should steer the party away from money politics.
Jai Telugu Desam! Jai Jai NTR‼
Please share your views on Telugu Desam party.

Telugudesam Party: Flag and Symbol
1. Motto behind the formation of the Flag:
People of the Andhra treats the yellow color as holy in nature. So N.T.Ramarao [N.T.R], the founder president of the party, wished to have that color to the party flag.
The hut in the flag is the symbol that stands for the poor.
The wheel in the flag is the symbol for the workers.
The plough is for the farmers.
He wished to express that his party stands to serve for these three groups of the people who form a major chunk in the society.
2. CYCLE: Party symbol of the Telugu Desam party.
When Alluru formed as new election constituency in the Nellore district, Sri Bezawada Papireddy contested as MLA and won the election in 1967 as an independent candidate against the congress candidate. His election symbol was the ‘Bicycle’. Later Papireddy joined the Telugudesam party.
One day N.T.R. was holding party meeting with the workers to discuss about the election symbol for the party. Papireddy suggested the cycle as the symbol of the party. First of all N.T.R did not show much interest, but after a while he announced that he is going to request the election commission to allot the ‘Bicycle’ as the election symbol of his party.
In the ensuing 1983 assembly elections, this announcement made everybody into astonishment. Thus the bicycle has become election symbol of the Telugudesam party officially.
Slogans of the Telugudesam party during 1983 elections:
1. 1 Kg of rice for two rupees only
2. preserving the self respect of the Telugu people (Andhra Pride).
3. No dominance of Delhi politics over Andhras.
4. Politics should be pure and corruption free.
5. We should not live at the charity of others.
NT Ramarao won in the 1983 assembly elections and sworn in as chief minister on 9th January, 1983.

Chandrababu Naidu in new Avatar
Silver Jubilee celebrations of Telugu Desam Party showed Nara Chandrababu Naidu in a new Avatar. For the first time, he agreed his mistakes without hypocricy in a big meeting. This will help him to keep in people’s good books in the long run. He gave stern warning to the dissidents like Gutta Sukhendra Reddy. He cleverly commented on burning Telangana issue. He was spoken like a true socialist.

Are we going to see a socialist Babu in place of capitalist?
2. Devender Goud speech on caste system.
3. Nannapaneni Rajakumari comments on peace and Rajasekhar Reddy’s rule.
4. Exhibition on NTR and Telugudesam Party.
5. Graphical speech of NT Ramarao prepared by Muralimohan.
2. Too many leaders on the stage.
2. Imbibe communist (fighting spirit) culture into party cadre.
3. Chandrababu should meet party activists as frequently as possible.

Major incidents in Telugu Desam history:
1. October 1981: NTR announced his intention to dedicate himself to serve the Telugu people for 15 days in a month since his 60th birthday. This was happened in “Sardar Paparaidu” film shooting. NTR got his inspiration to serve people from Hindu spiritual guru Swami Vivekananda.
